The large number of orders for the Tesla Model X has moved the delivery date up to early 2016.
Tesla sales grow with every new quarter that passes, sign that the company is very appreciated by an increasing number of people.
Only if we talk about the Model S, which is very popular world wide despite the high price, we can see that even in the first quarter of 2014, Tesla sold 6,457 units, and reached a number of 9,834 units for the last quarter of the same year.
In the first quarter of 2015, Tesla sold 10,045 Model S units, and in the second quarter 11,507 units, which shows that the trend is growing.
If the Model X comes out in the third quarter of this year, or at least in the last quarter, this could further increase the Tesla sales for all its models.
The orders for the Model X have already moved the delivery date for early 2016, which means that their number exceeded expectations.
If Tesla Model S has a starting price of about $70,000 for the basic model, and the average Model S sold has a price of about $95,000, we can say that the Tesla sales will truly explode only when the third model will become available.
Elon Musk says that the third model is scheduled for late 2017 and the full production for 2018.
Why we cannot see a cheap Tesla car on the market at this moment? and I’m talking about a model with a price of about $30,000?
Well, you need to know that only the battery that comes with the Model S has a price of at least $35,000, so with such a price for the battery, how can Tesla sell a car with only $30,000?
Maybe this is the reason of the fact that Tesla Model 3 shows an uncertain timeline for entering the production line.
The reality is that Tesla Model 3 must be a cheaper electric car created for a very large number of people and must be a vehicle for everyday life, which means that is not needed to be very fast, it only needs to have a decent range of at least 250 miles.
If Tesla Motors said that the third Tesla model could come into production in 2018, maybe they know that by that date, they are able to mass produce a cheaper version of the Tesla battery, a battery with less power but with about the same range for a slower and lighter vehicle.
Only time will tell us what Tesla Motors does to prepare the production of the third model, a car that we think, will truly inflate the Tesla sales.
