George Hotz, which is the founder and the CEO of the company, wants to create a product that people will be able to install in their own cars to give them more self-driving capabilities than they receive when buying a new Tesla or any other car that provides today self-driving capabilities.
[adsense float=”left”]Hotz considers that his product is unique in the market and targets a different segment than Google does, and anyway is better than the self-driving capabilities provided by Tesla, Volskwagen on the new Audi or any other car manufacturer of today.
The AI system proposed by Comma works by emulating human driving behavior, actually it learns how a driver reacts in different scenarios that can occur on the road, and tries to replicate all these habits.
What I consider to be very important for any car that provides self-driving capabilities today is the fact that the system proposed by Comma.ai never overrides the driver.
If needed, the driver can grab the wheel anytime, can accelerate, can hit the brakes, and the car will respond right away because the system will automatically disengage.
Hotz plans to slowly get the trust of the customers, the client can install the system in its car and use it for one minute today, maybe two minutes tomorrow, and so on, until the client trusts the system entirely.
The system will be available for any type of car of today not only for electric cars, even if Hotz aims to overcome Tesla, Google and any other big name on the market that provides green cars with self-driving capabilities.
